To setup a single post on the kitchen counter, you will only need a small space. The Labrico brackets have a very small footprint.

Setting Up the Labrico 2x4 Adjuster Brackets
The timber posts are easy to setup using Labrico 2×4 Adjuster brackets. There is a top and bottom bracket which pop on each end of the 2×4 timber post. The top bracket is tightened against the ceiling by turning the adjusting screw.
It’s held there by tension and no tools are required.

Build the Framework First
Choose a location for your plant hanger. Either on the kitchen bench or by a window.
Check the ceiling is flat and sturdy. Do the same for the floor.
Note: the Labrico 2×4 Adjuster brackets cannot be used on a sloped ceiling
Measure the length of the floor to ceiling or kitchen counter to ceiling.
Minus 3.7 inches or 95 mm from the measurement.
Put the upper bracket and bottom bracket on the wood post.
Check the wood post is vertical by using a spirit level.
TIP: For an online spirit level, download “Bubble Level” for free from the iphone app store.
Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to tighten the upper cap against the ceiling.
Ensure the timber post is sturdy and can’t rotate.
Add the Hardware
Following steps 1 to 6, this is what you should have set up so far on the kitchen counter.
You should have the timber post setup on the counter top.

On the timber post, mark the location for the 3 plant hangers. Drill pilot holes for each plant hanger.
For the kitchen plant hanger, I put two on one side of the timber post, one on the other.
Use your creativity here. You can choose the height of the brackets. You can design it the way you want. Play around with it.
Fasten the plant hangers to the wood post.
